Recommended Fishing Rod Setup
Crab snares are very heavy. The trap itself weighs about 6 ounces once you fill it with bait.
Rod...Recommend a pole at least 8-10ft long and can handle over 10 lbs
Reel...Recommend at least a size 6000 reel. A good way to go is an 8000 size reel
Line...Recommend at least 50 lbs braided line
What is a crab snare?
A crab snare is a simple cage filled with bait with 6 loops sticking straight up that are designed to trap the crabs when they try to take the bait. It’s usually casted from a fishing rod and allows you to effectively catch crab from jetties, piers and beaches.

How to use the snare? What are the best crab baits?
Simply cast the crab snare into a sandy area with lots of crabs, wait about 10 minutes, then reel it in, keep the line tight.
Anything smelly and stinky! Fish pieces, e.g. mackerel. Squids. Chicken or turkey pieces. For the best result, make a mix.
What time of day is best to go crabbing? Where is the best crabbing places?
The best time to go crabbing is at the point in the day that is two hours before high tide, or two hours after high tide.

Do the crab snare work on Blue Crabs?
Yes. The snare effective for Dungeness, Rock Crabs as well as Blue Crabs.
